Christmas Decor Ideas for 2018
Get inspired by these Christmas decor ideas for 2018 to make your holidays merry and bright with festive decor themes: preppy trad, pastel glam, frosted forest, and vintage maximalist!
I like to change up my Christmas decor theme each year. I always re-use my decor, but I do a bit of a different theme in each room or subtlety change how it looks by focusing in on a specific color. Last year it was winter botanicals with a green and white look in my living room, and the year before that I went for a preppy plaid style.
This year I’m having trouble deciding which direction to go. Not because of a lack of inspiration mind you, but more because there are so many festive possibilities! I love the preppy trad look with classic red and green and plaid, but the glam pastel style speaks to my feminine chic heart! Since I’ve been hunting out Christmas decor inspiration, I thought I would share with you four Christmas styles that are inspiring me right now.
Christmas Decor Ideas for 2018
Preppy Trad
The first of these Christmas decor ideas warms my preppy, traditional loving heart! This style features plaid, classic green and red, traditional motifs like nutcrackers, and elegant greenery with boxwood, magnolia, thistles, and pine. Opt for this Christmas decor style if you are a traditionalist at heart with a bent towards symmetry, clean lines, history, and rich color.
The playful boxwood trellis wrapping paper, bold plaid ribbon, and inclusion of navy keep this Christmas decor idea from being too staid and boring. It also never hurts to throw in an unexpected pattern like polka dots to add visual interest.

Frosted Forest
I noticed this Christmas decor idea last year, but it was a more garden inspired winter wonderland whereas this year I’m feeling more rustic, woodland vibes. Think beautiful green tones with an abundance of white and crystal juxtaposed with rustic willow, pinecones, and fur. I think this Christmas decor style is so simple, yet chic.
I will definitely be re-using this theme again in my house. Possibly in a tablescape!

Pastel Glam
This Christmas decor style is for all you lovelies out there who just cannot get into the red and green color combo. Pick your favorite pastel (mine happens to be pink) and embrace it for Christmas! Use gold and silver accents to make the theme feel festive and glam.
To keep this Christmas decor idea from becoming juvenile decorate with sophisticated greenery like bay leaves, magnolia, eucalyptus, and boxwood; use varied textures: gilt surfaces with fuzzy sheepskin; and sophisticated patterns like marbleized wrapping paper.
