Portrait of Katherine in her living room wearing pink wrap

Well Hello.

I'm Katherine. I'm so delighted you stopped by!

Pender & Peony started in 2014 as a creative outlet to explore my passions for writing, home decorating, life in the South, and entertaining. It has grown over the years to now include a specially curated shop of vintage and antiques -- Curio Collected!

I want P&P to be your source for one of a kind curios that delight the grandmillennial and traditional loving gal or guy!

We all need a dash of inspiration to live more graciously and embrace the joy in everyday moments! I sincerely hope I can nurture some of that inspiration for you here on P&P.

If you explore the blog roll, you'll find advice on decorating a charming and classic home as well as entertaining inspirations and how tos -- all with that special Southern flair. I always try to provide useful tips that are practical and adoptable. In other words, tricks and advice I use myself.

Before blogging and running the shop full time, I pursued careers in the art museum world and auction industry.

Those dream jobs gave me a wealth of knowledge about history and the decorative arts, which I put to good use curating a selection of classically charming curios (aka vintage and antique decor). If you are hunting antiques see what's available here and don't miss my weekly flash sales over on Instagram.

I hope you will join me in pursuing classically charming curios, imagining joyful pleasures for gracious living, and creating traditional interiors with colorful frills!

Cordially,

Katherine

You might find this interesting...

I have a master's degree in history & I spent a decade working in art museums, historic houses, and the auction world.

I'm a dog momma to Henry our CKCS.

I collect antique Rose Medallion & Staffordshire flatbacks.

My favorite travel destination outside of the South is the British Isles.

Pender is an old family name from my father's side and peonies remind me of my grandmother's garden.

My go to cocktail is a French 75.

My Roots...

I am a Southerner.

I grew up under a Carolina sky surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains.

I remember running barefoot through the garden with hands and dress stained purple from blackberry picking.

I’ve attended family reunions so big that you could not remember how the person hugging you was related -- you just accepted that they were.

I believe pearls are for every day.

I am a feminist.

For four years I empowered my mind with 700 other women behind the red brick wall.

I wrote a master’s thesis when it was not required.

I reject the patriarchy, but don’t deny my femininity.

I’ve biked the sandy paths of Nantucket and climbed all 528 steps of St. Paul’s Cathedral.

If I get lost in the bowels of the Metropolitan Museum, just leave me there.

I am a Modern Southern Woman.

My grandmother taught me the value of hospitality, and I’ll never forget the taste of her biscuits.

I cannot resist rockin’ on the front porch with my mother for a good gossip, but heaven is reading in the shade of a sentient tree.

I work with intention and strive for substance even in the gilded cacophony of life.

These are the roots of my perspective.

Gracious living and Southern hospitality at its finest with a Wedgewood vase filled with pink peonies.
