This year I decided to change up my Christmas decor color scheme to blue and green with pops of plaid. The past several Christmases I’ve done a red and white theme with metallic hints. I blame my new obsession with navy, since painting my rattan bar cart, for this switch up. I carried this color scheme from the tree to the mantle and from the bar cart to the tablescape. I’m calling this year’s theme my blue, green & plaid Christmas!

I loved playing with this new scheme, and it had the added benefit of getting me out of the Christmas aisles! Using non-traditional colors in my Christmas decor meant I wasn’t limited to the seasonal section at stores. For example, I found my navy satin ribbon in the wedding section and my plaid ribbon in the fabric section. This is a great way to change things up and take a new approach to Christmas decorating.

I’m really happy with how my blue, green, & plaid Christmas decor came together! Want to get the look? See my shopping resources below!

Last year it was winter botanicals with a green and white look in my living room, and the year before that I went for a preppy plaid style. […]
