Picnic on the Tree Farm – Preppy Holiday Outfit
A vintage ski sweater, green hunters, wool mini, and trench cape make this the perfect preppy holiday outfit for a picnic on the tree farm!
This blustery sun filled day just begged for a causal picnic! We threw down a wooly, plaid blanket, laid out some cold cuts, and poured the apple cider for a lovely afternoon spent frolicking in the fields. What a lovely way to get into the Christmas spirit!
My preppy holiday outfit is a nod to classic style with a vintage ski sweater “borrowed” from my mother’s closet (I think I’ll be keeping this one mom!), wool mini, hunter boots, and this classic trench cape from Lands’ End. Wool is a must for blustery November days, and I kept my legs warm with these tights.
As many of you know, my family owns a Christmas tree farm. Almost 40 years ago my grandfather started a Fraser fir tree farm high in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Thanksgiving is really the start of our busiest season as we open the choose and cut fields for families to hunt for their perfect Christmas tree. I love to be out in the fields wandering the rows of trees and helping families pick a tree to bring that special Christmas magic to life in their homes.
This will be our first Christmas season with out my grandfather. He passed away in August, but I know he is with us in spirit and proud that we carry on this tradition.

That yummy drink in my mug is an apple cider hot toddy! Get the recipe here.
