Golden Globes Party Decor
Awards show viewing parties call for glamorous decor – no question. So channel old Hollywood and go for a black, gold, and white color palette with touches of a bold accent like this aqua. The more glitz the better!
Time saving hack: re-use your NYE decorations! Chances are they are totally glam and glitz!
For the basis of my party decor, I bought giant gold balloons and tassel garland. Tie fun streamers with different ribbons to the balloons to add some glamor and balance. You can have the balloons inflated at most party stores that sell them. Plan to use them soon, however, as mine only lasted about a day and a half before they started drooping.
I hung the tassel garland on the wall behind the hor d’oeuvres table and used a colorful ribbon instead of the plain string they come with. I also laid a short strand of the tassel garland on the table to add some glitz.
Next, I placed a large vase filled with white lilies and eucalyptus stems in the center of the snack table. I wouldn’t normally recommend putting lilies on a food table because they have such a potent scent, but lilies just shout glamor and old Hollywood to me, and since we won’t be eating in the same room I decided they worked for this occasion.
Finally, use simple serving pieces in white, glass, or silver to show off your party snacks and stick to the color palette. I like to play with height on a food table, so I used a cake stand for the red velvet cupcakes and a footed bowl to hold the popcorn cones.
Party Snacks
For my Golden Globes party, I’m serving cheese crisps, cucumber and radish crudités with hummus, red velvet cupcakes, and a sweet and salty popcorn mix. These hor d’oeuvres are classic and easily made, but with a few presentation tweaks they look glamorous. For instance, I piped the hummus on individual slices of cucumber and radish using an icing nozzle – so much more elegant than a bowl of dip.
Popcorn is simply a must for an awards viewing party. I choose to jazz mine up by making a sweet and salty popcorn mix with popcorn, pretzels, and peanut M&Ms. I used naturally sweet SkinnyPop popcorn instead of making it from scratch for the mix. I’m a new fan of SkinnyPop and love that it is made from clean, simple ingredients and non GMO!
I also put the popcorn mix in these DIY paper cones, so each guest could have their own individual serving + it’s just so cute! I’m sharing the tutorial for making these paper cones over on Facebook. The mix is made with 1 bag of SkinnyPop naturally sweet popcorn, 1 bag of peanut M&Ms, and half a bag of pretzels.
For the signature drink, I made pomegranate champagne cocktails. Pomegranate is such a decadent fruit and pairs well with champagne. To make: pour about an ounce of pomegranate juice in the flute and then top with champagne. Garnish the glass with gold ribbon or pomegranate seeds.
We’ve got you covered for your Golden Globes party decor and snacks, but let’s be honest sometimes those award shows get a little long and boring, so spice things up with a fun voting game. Print off and pass out these ballots to your guests and let them vote for the film or actor they think will win in each category. Whoever gets the most right wins. As a nice prize idea send that guest home with a giant balloon or the centerpiece!
SkinnyPop graciously provided us with these awesome ballots. Download them here!
