Life is Better at the Lake

Did you know that you can rent a cabin in a lot of state parks? This is a totally new discovery for me, but two weekends ago S. and I did just that to celebrate our four year wedding anniversary. We rented a little cabin on the lake at Big Ridge State Park, and it was magical! We spent two nights and three days hiking, boating, and rockin’ on the screened porch just re-connecting and unwinding.

Here are some snapshots from our little trip:

Away we go…

It was raining that first day, so with hunters, champagne, bourbon, and a good book in tow I was all set to head to the lake. What else does a girl need?

Just a little cabin in the woods with a lake front view…

The cabins were built by the CCC in the 1930’s. They are rustic but comfortable, and the rock fireplaces are beautiful.

Our little spot of heaven…

Where I spent my mornings and afternoons and ok….evenings too!

Entertainment…

Lake glamour shot because everyone needs a monogramed polo for the lake!

S. threatening to push me overboard with his paddle if I don’t stop disrupting his steering! hehe…

Docked…

The perfect picnic spot under the sycamores…

More canoeing adventures…

Look who we found…

Dinner time…

A perfect ending to a beautiful weekend…
