Little Touches of Autumn

Simple fall joys around my house!

As I work feverishly to get my Christmas decor together and start photography for the most merriest of seasons, I am still enjoying these little touches of autumn around our house. It is such a weird mashup that happens in our home every October: there’s autumn foliage, Halloween spooky, and then Christmas trees start going up! To keep myself grounded in the current season I like to have a few simple fall joys.

With James now in the picture, I’m not sure how this will all work moving forward. I definitely want him to enjoy autumn, fully embrace Thanksgiving, and not be confused about the holidays. So we will just see how it goes.

I created an autumn celebration on his little bookshelves in his room, selecting some timeless fall reads and hanging this darling acorn garland. He is obsessed with A Pumpkin Prayer and smiles with such joy every time I pull it out to read. It has quickly become our favorite. I think the colors and little mice just enchant him.

Some of the books I selected are with the future in mind like Autumn Story and will be more appropriate when he is older, but for now I’m thoroughly enjoying the illustrations. I couldn’t resist It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, I just love the mix of goofiness and absolute sincerity of this one. Fletcher and the Falling Leaves will literally melt your heart! I think we’ve all been there as a kid when we were just determined to save something that maybe wasn’t possible. My parents tell a funny story about me and a pool and tadpoles! LOL

At the front door, we enjoy the welcome home purple mums, Cinderella pumpkins, and pansies give us! Aren’t those wicker urns fabulous? Available in the shop!

Back inside I’m lighting this candle daily and enjoying the blooming pink camellias!

I’m really looking forward to getting out my gratitude tree this year with all the marbleized leaves I made last November. It is such a wonderful way to bring gratitude into your home decor. See it here.

If you’re in need of some more fall decorating inspiration, don’t miss this autumn mantel!
