My Hello Fall Dinner Table

Set your dinner table for fall with warm tones, glowing copper, vintage china, and whimsical decor. Don't miss the fall menu at the end!

A so long summer, hello fall dinner table with copper, transferware, wildflowers, vintage glass, and Royal Tettau china.

I've been thinking about this tablescape as my "so long summer, hello fall" table, and around here September has been a lovely blend of both: waning temperatures, warm light, cool breezes, reddening dogwood leaves, but with plenty of peaches and tomatoes on offer.

I’m still waiting on that first cool crisp morning, but the humidity is low, the temperature has dropped, and you can feel the first day of fall just around the corner. It’s perfect entertaining weather because you can still grill out and there is plenty of yummy garden produce to be had. Why not throw a little "so long summer, hello fall" dinner party and welcome friends to your table.

The Fall Dinner Table

The fall dinner table should feel sumptuous and layered. It should be warm and welcoming. Never too stuffy!

An embroidered floral runner decorates the center of this autumn tablescape with glass mushroom bud vases, wildflowers, and copper lanterns.

Carlo Moretti vintage cased glass goblets in amber add a lovely glow to this fall dinner table

On my table this fall, I’ve hinted at the lush autumnal colors to come with the beautiful embroidered floral runner and the oak leaf salad plates. The rosy copper chargers add texture and warmth, brightening the dark wood and giving that wonderful gleam to the table setting. Elegant Carlo Moretti wine glasses in amber also shine on this tablescape when the light hits them the cased glass glows in the most wonderful way.

Fox place cards from Hester & Cook add a playful element to the fall table

I always like to place a whimsical element or two on the tablescape that makes my setting feel relaxed -- to entreat guests to linger, feel comfortable, and enjoy a little laugh. On this fall dinner table, the glass mushroom bud vases and sweet fox place cards are that playful element. Aren’t they just charming?

For the dishes, I've stacked a fun medley of vintage china with a Royal Tettau salad plate in an oak leaf and acorn motif on top of a Johnson Bros transferware pattern called Malvern from the Windsor Ware line. The Malvern pattern is a lovely multi-colored transferware reminiscent of Blue Onion. Both plate sets are available in the Curio Shop!

This table is a fun mixup of metals, textures, color, and high and low tableware. Nothing is too fancy and nothing is too precious, but this early fall table still feels special and romantic and inviting.

Thanks so much Charlene! This tablescape turned better than I envisioned. The blazer is a classic piece and so reasonably priced. 🙂
