It's time to break out the festive linens, Christmas china, and good silver!

Let's set a festive holiday table in an elegant winter theme!

Here's my best advice to create this look...

5 Tips for a Festive Christmas Tablescape:

No.1 Start with a Christmas-y Tablecloth or Runner

Every charming tablescape needs a good foundation and that starts with a lovely tablecloth or runner. Here I've used a vintage rose patterned square from April Cornell. The green and white color scheme sets the stage for my elegant winter theme, but the sweet floral pattern doesn't feel too theme-y or over done.

No. 2 Add a Dash of Whimsy

These fun nutcracker place cards from Hester & Cook add a charming playful note to this elegant Christmas table. The whimsical nature feels festive, fun, and keeps the table setting from being stuffy or too formal.

No. 3 Mix High & Low

On this festive Christmas table I've used a variety of high low juxtapositions:

Inexpensive Mikasa with Belgian linen

Timeless silver flatware with whimsical place cards

Etched crystal goblets with simple red Anchor Hocking

Don't be afraid to mix and match your tableware for a unique look that creates a festive and elegant table but doesn't overwhelm guests. The Mikasa plates and goblets are available in the shop!

No. 4 Bring on the Drama

Every table needs wow factor with a dramatic element. Here I kept the centerpiece low just using one of my frosted winter Christmas swags flat on the table with a plaid bow, but the pair of silver candelabras and draping bows from the chandelier add that dramatic focal point.

No. 5 Carry the Theme

Let the Christmas tablescape be the star of the show, but sprinkle in elegant Christmas decor around the room to make the whole space feel merry. This will add so much to the atmosphere of the meal! In my dining room, I used two flocked branch trees in a corner to continue the elegant winter theme, and I placed a pine wreath on the mirror with a holly ribbon bow.
