A Fall Adventure to a Cabin by the Lake
Tucked away in a little Tennessee state park is a rustic cabin by the lake where we love to hike and enjoy the glorious autumn leaves!

From a rocker on a screened in porch watching this peaceful morning view coffee never tasted so good.

A delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and chocolate croissants set us up for our day by the lake!

Slowly the rolling mist gave way to glorious sunshine...

It was time to set out around the lake and find our autumn adventure!

With frequent stops to admire the autumnal hues...

We first stopped by the old Norton gristmill.

Then off down the ghost house trail for a 19th century cemetery and ruins of an old log cabin.

I couldn't stop admiring the forest flora!

Finally, we made it back to our cabin by the lake for cocktails and campfires!

We love to rent a cabin at Big Ridge State Park every autumn for a few days of escape. It is a supremely peaceful trip with rustic amenities and simple pleasures. A step above tent camping, we like that there is a bed, kitchen and bathroom in each cabin.
Plan your meals and bring any special cooking implements you prefer to use like sharp knives, a cast iron skillet, and your own glasses.
Hiking on the many trails around the lake, fishing, or canoeing in the summer are the main forms of entertainment.
