Description

A stunning set of 7 Mottahedeh reproduction Creil Faience creamware bowls with architectural engravings in black and white. Border in the embossed swan, lyre, and urn motif. Circa 1950’s. Made in Italy.

This is such a chic pattern and reminds me of the Fornasetti’ Palladiana line.

Buildings depicted include the Villa Almerico/Rotonda by Palladio (2 bowls) and the Villa Foscarini Rossi (2 bowls). Other structures on 3 bowls unidentified.

Size: 9.5″D

Creil Faience dates back the 1700s and the Creil and Montereau manufactory helped popularize transfer printed ceramics in France. They were well known for their series of satirical and narrative cabinet plates.
