Description
Curious about an heirloom or thrift find?
Want to find out how much it is worth, when it was made, and what it was used for?
Let me help you identify and value your antiques!
With more than 15 years of experience working with antiques and art, I’ve seen and assessed a wide variety of pieces from Chinese ceramics to original paintings and period furniture to handmade quilts.
Online resources are vast and you can always explore my collecting antiques section here on P&P, but sometimes it takes an expert’s eye to make a final determination. I am happy to give you further assessment and advice based on my experience.
This can be helpful if you are seeking a second opinion before you buy or sell something or want to know more about a family heirloom. Please note that I am not a licensed appraiser and cannot provide you with an insurance appraisal. I can provide you with a value range for a piece(s) based on photos, but without handling the item in person I am uncomfortable giving exact prices.
I will advise you if your piece(s) is valuable enough to consult an appraiser or auction house for further assessment or re-sale.
To help support Pender & Peony, personal assessments are $25 per item. If you have a large set of tableware or specific collection of one type of antique, individual assessments may be unnecessary and you can choose the collection assessment for $75, which will cover up to 5 pieces. Just to reiterate the collection must be like items for example 5 Rose Medallion porcelains. For a set of tableware, the fee will cover 5 types within the set for example: teacup, platter, dinner plate, tureen, salad plate.
Photo Submission:
After purchasing your personal assessment please email quality photos of the item to katherine@penderandpeony.com Photos should include each side of the object and the bottom. Include one close up detail view as well as any marks and or condition issues. Photos should be taken in natural bright light when possible and be sent at medium or high resolution for optimal assessment. I cannot work with thumbnails.
If you are sending photos of multiple items for a collection assessment, please label them clearly. A listing with descriptions and measurements will speed up the assessment process.
Terms:
- Please allow 10 business days for your assessment report. If your item requires additional research beyond the 10 day timeline, I will email you.
- Assessments are based on your photos. If your photos are low quality and you do not respond to my requests for better photos, I cannot provide you with an accurate assessment. Your assessment fee will not be refunded.
- Specific dating is not always possible for every antique. I will detail a time range in most cases.
- Assessments are based on my expertise and education. They cannot be fully guaranteed as I am not seeing the antique in person. Disagreement over assessment information will not be refunded.
- Some antiques may be outside of my purview or my ability to assess from photos. For example: antique tools and Oriental rugs. If I am unable to assess your item or collection, I will notify you of this and refund your payment.
