Add a little nautical charm to your living room with this nautical summer mantel inspiration, featuring vintage coastal decor, coral, wicker, and seashells.
Ready to get in a summer state of mind?
Bring the ocean to your living room with this summer nautical mantel inspiration whether you live by the water or far far away!
A sunny hot day in the sand with the sound of crashing waves and the cry of gulls sounds oh so good! No demands to meet, but a book, a fruity concoction, and a tan calling my name.
Doesn’t that just sound delightful? Unfortunately, no beach trips are on my calendar yet, so I created this nautical themed mantel to give me all the summer beach feels.
Elements of My Nautical Summer Mantel
I started this summer mantel with the vintage seascape painting that I picked up at a church bazaar then I added a glass hurricane with candle to either side. These three pieces form a triangle and create the foundation for the mantel decor to keep it balanced, since the model sailboat to the right weights the mantel more to that side.
On the left, I used a wicker covered bottle, a white ceramic conch planter, and blue gingham napkins. To add some height and color, I used four pink glasses with brightly colored roses, bells of Ireland, and snapdragons. I love to re-purpose tableware and pretty glasses make the perfect vases.
Finally, for some additional texture I tucked coral and seashells amongst the main nautical elements.
I picked up much of this nautical themed decor the other weekend out thrifting and antique shopping. Sailboats and seashells always connect you to the ocean and beach, but you can use other elements that are less themed to get the nautical summer look like gingham and wicker. To further play up the nautical feel you could use rope, antique glass buoys, anchors, driftwood, and/or sea glass.
Almost all of the decor from this nautical summer mantel will be featured in Thursday’s 8PM EST flash sale over on my Instagram. Pop on over to IG Thursday night where I will list each item for sale with its picture. Happy summer y’all!
