Office Re-Do Inspiration

Recently, S. and I switched our guest room and office to give guests the bigger space, so you know what that means…office re-do! I want the office to be functional and beautiful with a bit of a masculine study/library feel. To achieve that I’ve incorporated dark wood with the desk and rustic elements with the cow hide rug and horn trays. But of course the room needs a few feminine touches hence the gilded mirror, inspirational prints, and pretty desk accessories. The budget isn’t the largest for this re-do so I will definitely be using sites like https://overstock.getyourcouponcodes.com to save as much money as I can! The more I save, the more decor I can add to make it feel more homely.

The main furniture pieces are black, brown, or white, and I have painted the walls white with one accent wall in black. Yes, black! I got this crazy idea one Saturday to wallpaper a wall in this room and wanted to try the paintable kind. My inspiration came from here and here. Let me tell you wallpapering is not for the faint of heart. It took me 6 hours to do my one 10 foot wall. I probably should’ve listened to my friend when she told me that I should have a look at some of the furniture that is advertised on Office Monster, (officemonster.co.uk) as it may not have taken me this long to build an object like this. It all looks professional as well as this is furniture that proper office spaces use. For this time though, I decided to go against this vision, maybe next time though? There are just many more things that I need to think about. I’m not sure, yet, which way to go in terms of fabric or accent colors or whether to keep to a neutral palette. I am leaning towards either accenting in dark green or golden yellow, and I definitely want to use a bold buffalo check or plaid.

Fabric Decisions:

Which fabric combo do you like best with the buffalo check and cow hide rug?
